Bob Dylan - In Concert: Brandeis University 1963

A great freshly discovered concert from Bob's folk phase in the early 1960's. The man performs in a makeshift concert venue (a gym) for a keen audience of students as he builds his audience and reputation months before his national fame. The performers confidence and spark is clearly in place at this stage of his development.

PHRONESIS - ALIVE

The piano jazz trio reinvented by this bass led ensemble. Jasper Hoiby composes the stunning tunes and leads the turbulent but flowing jazz vibe. The piano of Ivo Neame percussive and then lyrical by turn with Mark Guiliana strong on drums.

TINA MAY - I NEVER TOLD YOU

Powerful sophisticated jazz from the elegant British singer Tina May. She covers a great mixture of standards including "In your own sweet way" and "Body and Soul" with a sample of more unusual fare such as "Speak Low" and "Stolen Moments".

ORCHESTRION - PAT METHENEY

Pat links a concert hall of instruments in this great one man band jazz symphony. Guitars blend and trigger the shadow automated players. Brilliant.

Alleycat / Direct Hits - Nucleus

Ian Carr had by 1976 fully established his jazz rock adventure with Nucleus and Alleycat is a great example of the concept. Subtle, ingenious, with an ever flowing funk underfloor, the multi layered structure of solos and conversations from the instrumentalists make this a real Amazon. Direct Hits presents the history of the group from 1970 in an ever sliding perspective of gold glimpsed in that exotic jungle.

Waka/Jawaka - Frank Zappa

Frank tackles jazz fusion, wrestles with the studio, plumbs in the originality and eccentricity reaches towards those perfect stars!!
